Yes, today, February 21st, is in fact yet another anniversary for my better half and myself, what is it now forty six I believe......I better know the correct compilation of years by now!
It was back on this very day in 1970 that we both committed ourselves to each other for better, for worse, in sickness and in health until death do us part.
We have IN FACT lived thru ALL of these life experiences AND we are still together!
We have gone from giggling newlyweds to drooling seniors...ha, ha, ha! We met when we were both in college back in 1967. She was a innocent freshman, and I a "mature" junior. I met her on a blind date if you will. I had seen her in the dorm building but gave her little notice.
My friend was interested in her roommate but she wanted nothing to do with him. So every time he would call, my future wife would answer the phone, and they got to know each other that way. Well it was a week end and also party time and I needed a date. Can you believe that I had my buddy call her up and ask her to go downstairs for me to "take a look?" She did not know who I was or remembered what I looked like. Well, I took her to the party and we dated all thru that year at school. I could not get her out of my mind.
School ended and we went our separate ways.....but, she was still on my mind, so we started dating again late that summer. I had lost my student deferment and "Uncle Sam" was knocking on my door.
We decided to get married prior to me being drafted, so we married on February 21st, 1970, I was drafted that May. We had about three months together before being apart for a few years.....we have had our ups and downs these last forty six years as have many couples, BUT, we are still together......for better or worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.....love is the answer, some one to love is the answer, once you have found them, build your world around them, never, never let them go!
