Cold over here

by Rosemary
(Sheffield England)

Feeling a bit down this week. The weather in England is soooo cold. What with that and the Coronavirus feeling a bit low.

To cheer myself up, I am going to paint a birthday card for my old friend who is 72 next week... going to paint a card with a bright yellow sunflower on it. Maybe that will cheer her up...she is feeling a bit down too.

Usually we manage to sit out in our small garden in the Summer to have lunch we have not done that once this year.

I loved the poem about the husband and the chainsaw mowing down all the plants. I really sympathize with her. Hubby in a bad mood too as fridge freezer is on the blink and we will have to invest in a new one and they are really expensive...plus we have lost all the food that was stored in the freezer as it had completely defrosted!

Best wishes
Rosemary

I Would Love a Trip to England
by: Canadian Retiree

Rosemary, I've always wanted to take a trip to England, my husband especially wants to go because he is a huge Beatle's fan and has 10,000 LPs in our basement.

I live in British Columbia, Canada and our summer so far has been similar to yours. We finally had sunshine by the end of July. It rained most of June, we were calling it "Junarary" with Covid restrictions it made things twice as dreary.

The only good thing about the weather is that it keeps people from having huge gatherings on the beach and in parks.

Your paintings sound nice. Stay safe.

I did not see the poem you refer to here.

I would like to find it if I can

Can you help me?

Thanks

Carol

Tell your husband he is wonderful and keep painting
by: Michael D. Bell, REALTOR®, Venice Florida

Hi Rosemary,

I am sorry to hear about your freezer and loss of food. Reassure your husband that the best thing you can do is shop around for the best deal. You need a freezer. And, when you remind him how wonderful he is, it will make spending the money a bit easier on him.

Since you paint, you could also paint some "thinking of you" cards for friends and family. Maybe you could turn your painted cards talent into a small business.

Ask Wendy if you can post some of your paintings on this site to share with all of us! Michael

I miss England
by: Susan Richmond,VA

Oh, how I wish the world was normal, and I was on my Episcopal churchs pre-planned trip, to Gloucester, England, singing in the beautiful Gloucester Cathedral.

Singing these Evening Song and Sunday services in such a Godly space are life-altering. Our choir, every other summer, sings at special Cathedrals. Many have been all over England, Italy and France.

I haven't been in as long, so have been to Worcester Cathedral, and in NY, St Thomas and St John the Devine. I was so looking forward to going to lovely Gloucester.

This virus has changed everyone's lives.
I pray for a vaccine SOON!

You should get together with your friend, for lunch! Just be careful. It's unhealthy for you to be totally isolated. Masks greatly help, as does a meter or 2 of distance.

Enjoy your lovely country.
I wish I were there, singing, touring...

Very Curious

Why aren't you lunching with your friend?

If you are both quarantined, staying home and safe, why not?

Especially, out in the garden, stay across the table from each other if you must, but get together and enjoy life a bit -- safely.
