Grumpy Old Man example in Store closing

I was in a grocery store today that is owned by the A&P and was told by a manager who worked there twenty five years he just found out his store was going out of business.

I wished him well and continued to shop.

When I went to the check out the man in back of me who was elderly started complaining about there weren't enough checkout lanes open.

I told this man they are going out of business. He then snottily remarked They're already out of business. I couldn't believe he was so uncaring.

Now he was an old crank.
