Relationships in this world change about as rapidly as the weather does. Here today and gone tomorrow! What in fact holds some relationships together for years and years?
My parents were together for almost seventy three years....not always the calmest times, but they seemed to always "mend the fences." I reflect back on their sometimes wavey relationship and wonder how or why it lasted as long as it did. No doubt that both at times would give in to settle a confrontation.....yet they stuck it out in good times and bad, and there were many, many bad times, both financially and medically. Yet unlike today and many relationships that flounder after a few years, theirs did not, it was resilient.
I guess the point that I am getting at is that anything worth doing including getting involved with a relationship, or for that matter a lifetime career is worth doing well!
I got that bit of knowledge from my late father, and have tried to carry it throughout my life, especially during my career. I will try to keep this in mind as I approach my retirement in the near future.
