In February of this year I stopped by my local Senior Center to do my taxes, felt good vibrations and joined The Auburn Senior Center, a group of upbeat, friendly Seniors.
I took a few cooking workshops, renewed firmer connections, made new acquaintances. I also took a woodcarving workshop but enjoyed painting the lively carvings much more than carving.
I nudged a uke player Winter to lead the workshops, a great favorite. I also urged Patti to teach watercolor, another favorite workshop.
In September I began dusting off my First language Spanish and now teach Conversational Spanish, weekly.
On Friday I oversee a Chat/Craft group where we sometimes paint, embellish and Always Converse.
I enjoy promoting our Center and the craft events. I'm very interested in other senior centers and try to encourage others to teach workshops so I'm hoping to grow our non-profit as we depend upon donations/memberships in a small area.
I hope other senior center members will exchange ideas/experiences.
