I RETIRED AT 62 AND BEGAN TAKING BENEFITS. WENT BACK TO WORK 3 YEARS AGO. NOW 77. CAN OR WILL THOSE ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO SS BE OF BENEFIT TO ME WHEN I RETIRE AGAIN?
Wendy: Absolutely! However, I wonder why you aren't drawing a benefit?
You should be receiving both pay AND Social Security right now. After the "full retirement age" (65 and increasing) there is no income limit on earnings...
I've had employees who worked full time and banked their Social Security check. Just think -- take your previous monthly Social Security amount times 12 months. It makes a nice savings account!
Contact Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 and ask about the benefit.
Finally, the benefit will still increase as you work and draw it too!
Best Wishes!!
