I have a new friend - who has established a travel club for seniors in our own city (Melbourne, Australia).
Seniors here are entitled to a $2 fare to anywhere on the metropolitan train/bus network - so once a month they all gather at a major interchange railroad station and then move on to the destination planned for this month's outing. Their destination is where they don't have to spend excessive money on entrance fees - one of the members has already organised to be the leader for a walking tour when they arrive.
They use Eventbrite - a free online service to advise members of future outings.
They might go to Brighton Beach, to an ethnic shopping hub, into the foothills to ride the Puffing Billy heritage railroad, or use their free annual railroad pass to visit an internationally curated showing at the Bendigo Art Gallery. (The long distance railway company supports regional cities by offering free one-and-two day return travel from the city).
Can you let us know of any similar activity that you are aware of ....
