The Autumn of My Life

The Autumn of My Life

Retirement has given me more than enough time to think about aging. My routine has changed since I was retired from my company last year.

The word Retiree makes me feel old. Receiving a pension makes me feel old. My memory is not as good as it was. I also have a few aging aches and pains. Feeling old has come upon me all of a sudden.

While I was working I didn't feel old, although some of my colleagues, staff must of felt I was ready for the knacker's yard.

On the bright side, I have no serious health problems. I exercise and watch what I eat. Keep the brainbox active by reading, studying a foreign language and using modern technology. Keeping my chin up while I can.

I truly enjoyed reading what u wrote and l'm with u 100%. Retiring is what 1 makes it. When 1 stays relatively busy and enjoys what it is they r doing in the moment, retirement is better than the alternative!

l volunteer, bowl, and work part-time at something l enjoy doing very much* lm 65 years young and just bought myself a car, lm not rich but l want to travel to the beaches and get about in the nice weather, which will be upon us soon enough!

l like to walk in good weather & not so good weather, as long as l can walk , l can maintain by youthful looking body, mind, & spirit**

Continued good luck with your own retirement James*

The Autumn of Your Life

Sounds to me as though you have accepted your retirement with grace and are looking forward to it. Unfortunately we cannot go back (although there are certain times I wish I could but that is a whole other story). But, the main thing that keeps us going is being busy with things that we enjoy - things that make us want to get up the next day and dive right in.

Your comments sound like you found such peace. I am happy for you. As mentioned in the recent article i just posted, today is the first day of the rest of our life, we need to make the best of it.

Enjoy your retirement my friend.

Hope you enjoyed my two cents... read on!
