The Pineapple Boat

As many of you know, we are still into line dancing and at the present are attempting to line dance four to five days a week. Two of the days (actually evenings) are spent teaching various line dances to residents of our park, two days are spent learning new dances with the group we perform with (at nursing homes, assisted living homes, and the VA hospital). The fifth day, you can find us practicing by ourselves in the community clubhouse within our park.
On occasion, after practicing with the group we perform with, several or in some instances, all of us go to lunch at a local restaurant to socialize bringing each other up to date with what is happening in our lives outside of dance class.
While we usually tend to stay local, yesterday our line dance instructor had an urge to return to a restaurant she had visited some time back. This particular restaurant is located in Dade City, Florida and is known for a special entitled “The Pineapple Boat”. If you love pineapple and like chicken salad, you will enjoy this tasty treat. They also serve some excellent “pulled pork” and have quite an extensive menu all reasonably priced I might add.
So, having finished our line dance practice, several of us drove to Dade City and embarked on a culinary treat that will have us going back again before the summer is over, I am sure. The waitresses at the restaurant cater to your every whim and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. We enjoyed every savory bite of the meal and while several of the group ordered regular iced tea and/or diet Pepsi, I chose to wash mine down with sweetened Mango Iced Tea, which was also very refreshing.
---- Pssst! Wendy Here,... I found the Pineapple Boat online... here is the link to A Matter of Taste restaurant. Click to view the Pineapple Boat... looks delish! Back to Irwin! ----
We spent at least an hour and a half just sitting there and discussing various things happening in the world today. And while we did not solve all the problems of the world in that short time, we did leave the restaurant content, happy, and looking forward to our next luncheon adventure, wherever that might be.
So, next time you are looking for a cool luncheon treat (Note: they are only open Mondays through Saturdays from 11:00 AM until 2:30 PM) that will not pack on the calories and do not mind driving a few miles to get there (assuming of course that you are living in Central Florida), take a trip to Dade City, FL. Once there, sit back, relax, enjoy yourself and assuming you try the special “The Pineapple Boat”, (or one of the many other flavorful items listed on their menu), I am sure you will make it a point to return. I know we will.
Until next time!
