New Wine in an Old Bottle .... by: Retd. Prof. Mr. Durgesh Kumar Srivastava, New Delhi, India
Dear Wendy,
I have immensely liked your video post on the lady doing Yoga at the age of 92. This video inspires more than a thousand words in text. Thank you on behalf of all aged people. this video is very motivating.
In the Indian tradition Yoga is defined as the bringing together of the mind, body and soul. The Yoga practitioner has to begin with the body, then move on to the mind and finally purify and conquer the soul. The physical poses (these are called ASANAs) prepare the body for the more rigorous disciplining of the mind leading to the elevation of the soul.
When one attains the amalgam of body, mind and soul, there is immense peace within and without. The higher the number of people attaining this union of the three planes, the higher will be the social consciousness and life all around will be healthier, happier and more peaceful.
I first learned Yoga at the age of 27 years in 1970 and have reaped its immense benefits all my life, specially the benefit of mental peace and tranquility. It has helped me inculcate a joyful nature which has become a basis trait of my character. It helps me liberate myself from negative emotions like greed, anger, jealousy, hatred, ego etc. The result is that I am at complete peace with myself and with others around me.
I thank you for inspiring us all through this video post. I wish your efforts all success. ........................................... New Delhi, India, 28th March, 2012

Hi Wendy-you can do it!
If we all start practicing yoga everyday for a couple of hours or more then by the time we reach Bernice's age we'll be in the guiness too.
Today I tried gravity yoga and it was great. There is a sturdy scarf hanging from the ceiling and it's big enough to sleep in when it's all stretched out around you. The poses are very gentle on your spine because when you invert there is not weight or pressure on your neck.
The Athletic Club teaches it. www.theathleticclubs.com You can see pictures of Gravity Yoga there.
Sorry, I don't know how to post a video on the site. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing. Kae
Wendy: Wow,Kae, never saw the gravity yoga before... I imagined a hammock you'd lie in, but not face down! Grin! That's pretty wild... something new to me! Thanks for sharing!!
